About JAIBCO Custom Mailboxes
JAIBCO, Inc., founded 2002- (Pronounced Jay-b-Co) Originally JAIBCO was an acronym for our young family, “J” for Jamie, “A” for Amy, “I” for Isaac (our oldest son) and “B” for Baby (Amy was pregnant at the time). The “CO” was for company. Since then our family has grown. The “baby” that Amy was pregnant with turned out to be a baby girl that we named “Clara” and in 2005 we had another son whom we named “Oliver”. Completely by coincidence the C and O from JAIBCO had come to represent Clara and Oliver instead of CO for company. We hadn’t even thought of it until a couple months after Oliver was born and we were reflecting on naming the business and then realized that we had used names that worked as part of JAIBCO’s name. Life is funny that way! Then in 2008 we were blessed once again with a beautiful baby girl whom we named Bella thus the acronym JAIBCO now stands for all of our names: Jamie, Amy, Isaac, Bella, Clara and Oliver. As you may have guessed JAIBCO, Inc. is definitely a family business. The mailboxes are still assembled by hand as they have been for over 25 years. A lot of attention goes into making certain you will be happy with your purchase. We look forward to having you as one of our many satisfied customers. Sincerely, Jamie & Amy Johnson JAIBCO, Inc. Minneapolis MN Fiberglass Custom Mailboxes - A 25 Year History The product line was introduced in 1985 by Jerry Knapp, Cokato , MN, a career race car builder/driver, who chose to develop these custom fiberglass mailboxes after beginning a battle with leukemia. The mailboxes were designed and sold under the name Elite Custom Products. Jerry is the father of Steve Knapp, 1998 Indy Rookie of the year, who now owns and operates Elite Engines. Unfortunately Jerry lost his battle with leukemia on March 1st, 1987. Later that year the mailbox business was sold to Earl Johnson of Sherburn, MN. Earl had significant experience with fiberglass manufacturing as the General Manager for Glasstite, a pickup topper manufacturer of Dunnell MN. Earl continued to offer the mailboxes under the Elite Custom Products name for a couple years and then changed the company name to Creative Products of Minnesota, Inc. Under Earl’s ownership additional models such as the locomotive and streetrods were added. Then in 2002 Earl sold the mailbox business to his great-nephew Jamie Johnson of Minneapolis, MN. Jamie changed the company name to JAIBCO, Inc. and has continued to offer the mailboxes primarily as they were under the Creative Products name.
